about the shoot

For this shoot, I decided that I was going to do my own take on the work of Gillian Wearing. Getting women/girls of different ages that I find to write something on a sign. But for my shoot I would get them to write a positive thing that has been said about them, and a negative thing.

I also decided that when it came to the editing of the photos, I was going to link it to the work of Chuck Close in my previous stages, so they were done in black and white to try and highlight ant imperfections on the persons face.

The base for this shoot is that anybody can have something positive or negative said about them, no matter their age. This is more of a candid shoot because I wanted to convey the message that it doesn't matter who you are or what you look like, someone always has something to say.

As well as this, I also only chose to take one picture of the person with each sign to highlight the fact that they are not posed, or selected which I think adds to the message I am trying to convey with this shoot. However this did result in a shorter shoot, but a more powerful message.
